Finding Your Obstetrician

You’ve just discovered you’re pregnant — congratulations.

Choosing private obstetric care in Melbourne can feel overwhelming, but we're here to make the process simple, clear, and reassuring from the very first call.

Public obstetric care in Melbourne is provided through the public hospital system and offers excellent clinical standards, however care is typically shared across a rotating team of midwives and doctors, meaning you may see a different provider at each appointment and at your birth.

Private obstetric care with Dr Renee means having a dedicated specialist obstetrician by your side for your entire pregnancy — from your first appointment at 8–10 weeks through to birth and beyond.

While private care involves out-of-pocket costs beyond Medicare rebates, it offers greater continuity, after hours emergency access to your own specialist, and a more personalised experience in a private hospital setting.

How to Book Your First Appointment

Your wellbeing and your baby's care are our highest priorities, and our fees reflect the comprehensive, continuous private obstetric care provided throughout your pregnancy — including 24-hour on-call access to Dr Renee from your first consultation through to six weeks postpartum.

For a detailed breakdown of consultation fees, Medicare rebates, and private health insurance coverage, please contact our consulting rooms.

Private Health Insurance In Australia, private health insurance typically covers your delivery fee and hospital accommodation, but generally does not cover obstetric management fees. We recommend confirming your level of cover, waiting periods, and obstetric inclusions directly with your insurer.

Additional Services Hospital fees and services provided by other treating specialists — including ultrasound, pathology, anaesthetics, paediatrics, and surgical assistance — are billed separately and independently.

Self-Funded & Overseas Patients Please contact Frances Perry House directly for an estimate of hospital fees. Full payment is typically required upfront without appropriate private health insurance cover.

Consultation fees are payable on the day of your appointment.
